Video Is A Woman

The video uses the idea of regenerarion. It illustrates the idea by showing how the trees in winter look without leaves and how they look in spring. It shows the idea of chaos to cosmos, of death and birth. He demonstrates it by the journey the leaf takes and how it finds its way back to the tree. Also, it show the idea by the sun coming out and illuminating and bringing shining colors.

The River

In the song “The River,” Bruce Springsteen uses the symbols and archetypes of sexuality, struggle, and marriage to express the theme that one decision can alter one’s life. According to Springsteen, “But I remember us riding in my brother's car, her body tan and wet down at the reservoir, at night on them banks I'd lie awake, and pull her close just to feel each breath she'd take” (The River). Young people struggle when they become parents: “But lately there ain't been much work on account of the economy” (The River). They showed maturity and responsibility by going “down to the courthouse,” and him getting “a job working construction for the Johnstown Company” (The River).

Ariadne's Clue: Quotes

Interesting/insightful quotes:

"Initial dreams are often important" (Stevens 5).

"[T]he human mind evolved the capacity to think, use symbols, develop explanations, and create myths as the result of selection pressures encountered by our species in the course of its evolutionary history" (Stevens 10).

"'Let us learn to dream, gentlemen, and then we may perhaps find the truth'" (Stevens 14).

Confusing quote:

"In psychological terms, something unconscious is connected with consciousness, resulting in the experience of new meaning" (Stevens 13).

My dream is to play in the soccer world cup tournament. I learned by playing in the streets, and I have acquired experience by playing in several soccer clubs. Through the years I have been playing, this sport has given me joy and happiness, and it has given me problems because of windows I have broken and things I have damaged.  Because of many injuries, I think this dream is impossible.
